I'd like to do some photography this week, but am lacking in inspiration.
The Muse, she is quiet today.

I don't know if I've told any of you about this, but I suspect I might have. I have a modest Flickr account using the same username there that I am here. Feel free to check it out. Nothing earth shattering, but some random pictures over there of mine.

I'd like you all to meat Stubbz, my "pet" squirrel. I feed him and yesterday I scared away a cat that was stalking him. I think he is slightly retarded. I named him Stubbz because he lost his tail somehow last winter. It's growing back in, but is still kind of gross.

Sometime I feel like a fee-free ATM. Rrrrgh.
Erotic WoW fan art?
Yep. They have it. Quite a lot of it.
Oh 4Chan.

I am conflicted.
My opthamologist wishes me to use a publicly-accessible website for filling out "my paperwork" which asks for:
I'm particularly uncomfortable doing this. Guess it's time to find a new health provider. I don't particularly relish the thought of all that information out there on the Internet. I'm tempted to not fill it out and see what the ramifications are.
To my health-care-involved friends - what are your thoughts on this? From an IT perspective, this is absolutely insane.

Michael Jackson was a hero of mine, during my childhood. Allegations of child molestation (twice, really) kind of turned me off to him, but I always maintained my enormous respect for him as an artist, singer, dancer.
He hadn't produced anything of note in the last decade or so, but that doesn't mean that I had any less of a reaction when I listened to his music, which Phil might attest, was frequent.
A picture of an MJ graffiti memorial on the Red Line towards Shady Grove:
You will be missed, Michael.

Sometimes, I can be a dick when I'm telling people what I really think.
I embraced that dickishness yesterday when I wrote an email to Metro (the WMATA.COM Metro, specifically) telling them that their constant withholding of information from the people who use, depend on and pay for their system prevents us from making informed and conscientious decisions in an emergency situation.
Here's how it went down. For those who don't know or haven't heard, their was a big ol' train-wreck on the Red Line, one of the lines I use twice a day, on my way home from work. We were told, while sitting on the train, that their was "an issue" ahead. I also subscribe to the SMS service that gives updates, which told me that their were two trains experiencing mechanical difficulties at Fort Totten station. Given the vague, inaccurate information that I had, I decided to sit there for a bit and just wait for the issue to be resolved and then be on my way. I'm lazy like that. Well, about 25 minutes of me sitting there, twiddling myself and receiving updates via SMS that seem to indicate that the mechanical difficulties are being worked on, I finally overheard a woman behind me say that a friend had called her and said that their was a train collision with massive casualties. I go and check some websites and lo-and-behold, that woman was right! So I'm down 30 minutes at this point, wasted, when I could be navigating my way home. Luckily for me, Phil was home and came to get me. 20 minutes later, he arrives.
Now don't get me wrong - I am not trying to minimize the horror of yesterdays calamity. What happened yesterday was an awful, bad thing. What I am saying, DC/VA/MD Metro, is that by providing your riders with TIMELY, ACCURATE information, we can make more informed and salient decisions on how to best complete our travel. By keeping pertinent information about the specific nature of an event like this from us, you are preventing us from making choices that would reduce the load on Metro in addition to allowing us to get to our destinations quickly and safely.
In the future, concentrate less on PR and "spin" and concentrate more on getting accurate, timely, pertinent information out to your ridership.

So.
Safari 4 has this neat new splash page called "Top Sites". Google for it if you're unfamiliar.
Let's just say that six of my twelve top sites aren't exactly shining beacons of safety. I might have to turn this off.
What are your thoughts on Apple's announcements today? I'm getting a new iPhone, mostly because the screen on mine has been cracked for months.

A fitting retort to all the assholes on CraigsList who CONSTANTLY as me to do free photos for them.
Thank you, Harlan.

Posted "The Best of Key West" photos on Facebook. I took over 700, Phil took a similar amount, didn't want to kill you all with 700 pictures to look through. I'll be posting "The Boys of Key West" later. ;)
While I appreciate that Vicodin is a great drug, I would appreciate it if people wouldn't use my credit cards to order $400 of it over the Internet. I can only imagine what explaining this will need if I ever need a 'real' security clearance.
I mean, you could at least share a bit. Rude.

I answered (somewhat) the question I asked in the previous entry.
The answer was very counter-intuitive. More light on the objects heightens the signal-to-noise ratio of the disturbing reflections, yielding a better picture. I could probably filter out the remaining bars of light with a polarizer or two, but I'm satisfied as is.
